CORRECT OPERATION
Dirty oil enters the oil filter through the small holes located just inside the rubber O-ring. The oil is under pressure from the oil pump and is forced through a corrugated paper filter element. After passing through the paper filter element, the oil exits the oil filter through the large hole in the center.
OIL FILTERIt is then circulated throughout the engine where it returns to the oil pan in a dirtier state. The oil is then pumped through the filter and the cycle begins again.
